The Supreme Court issued an Order namely the Operational Plan for the Manila Bay Coastal Strategy (OPMBCS) in which its main goal is to clean, rehabilitate, and restore Manila Bay with the help of various shareholders such as Local Government Units (LGUs).
The pollution in the waters of Manila Bay contains several solid and liquid wastes that are toxic and hazardous, not only to the marine life in Manila Bay but also to the community near the area. Water pollution is not the only cause for the weak status of Manila Bay but also sediments that flow from the rivers and creeks that might contain heavy metals can also worsen the contamination of the bay. One of the river channels that is connected to Manila is the rivers of the Cavite area.

This study will help contribute to the improvement of the Water Quality in Manila Bay through qualification and analysis of heavy metal present in the sediments collected from the selected major rivers of Cavite.
